Our Newest Scent: Inspired by Spring in Victoria BC
Spring in Victoria BC doesn’t smell like flowers. It smells like wet ground after rain, the cold edge of the Salish Sea, and a crisp ocean breeze on the walk home.
We work in a building three blocks from the water. On the walk to the workshop, we pass those same heavy branches of pink and white cherry blossoms, but the scent is rarely what catches you.
What hits you first is the changing in the air. As soon as you cross the threshold toward Dallas Road, the sweetness of the blossoms is cut by the cold edge of the Salish Sea. It is a collision of two worlds: the manicured gardens of the city and the raw, unyielding grit of the Island.
This is the tension we wanted to capture. While the rest of the world leans into the “spa” version of spring — all soft petals and powdery perfumes — we wanted to lean into the feeling in Victoria BC. It is a season of transition that feels less like a garden and more like a recalibration.
The Contrast of the Coast
The flowers are an undeniable part of the landscape here, but they aren’t the emotional core of the city. They may draw in the tourists (we love them too) but any local knows that spring has a very different feel. In fact, the contrast makes the ruggedness more apparent.
The Vancouver Island spring is defined by a cool air that refreshes your skin under the warm sun. It’s the sensation of the wind whipping off the water at Clover Point, carrying the cool breeze from the sea, even while the cherry blossoms are blooming only blocks away. We chose Eucalyptus and Mint specifically to mirror that cool, refreshing sensation.
Why Victoria BC Defines our Ritual
To live here is to understand that the weather is a constant dialogue. Spring in Victoria BC is a series of micro-climates. You can be in the sun one minute, windswept the next and soaking wet after that. Our products are built to handle that Vancouver Island spring weather, providing a clean that is deep enough for the grit of the trail but gentle enough for daily use.
Beyond the Blossom
We recognize the beauty of the Victoria spring, but we don’t sell it. Most personal care brands launch a floral scent in May because it’s the easy choice. It’s predictable. We rejected that path because our goal is to capture the spirit of the west coast,.
When you use our powder to gel shampoo, we want you to feel the reality of the island, not a sanitized version of it. The scalp and skin are coming out of a long, dry winter; they need a ritual that feels invigorating and direct. By focusing on the “rugged” side of the season, we provide a sensory experience that wakes up the system. It’s about the clarity of the air, not the sweetness of the flowers.
The Engineering of the Scent
We introduced the Eucalyptus + Mint specifically to accompany our Cedar + Sea Salt. While it works beautifully in our body wash, its true purpose was to provide a “head-clearing” moment. We didn’t want you walking around smelling like a floral shop. We wanted you to carry the sharp, grounded essence of the coast.
Our small-batch Canadian production allows us to be precise with these calibrations. We use it as a functional component of the ritual. The goal is to leave the shower feeling ready for a fresh start.
Reclaiming the Season
Spring is often portrayed as a time of “softness,” but on the Island, it is a time of re-emergence. It’s when the bike paths get busier and the air begins to carry the weight of the coming summer. By leaning into the rugged changing of the air, we are inviting you to experience the season as it actually feels, not just as it looks on a postcard.
We walk past the cherry blossoms every morning. We appreciate the abundance. But we keep walking until we hit the water, because that’s where we live.
That’s where the Eucalyptus + Mint makes sense. It’s the scent of the transition — the salt, the stone, and the cold.

Your words make me (in Ontario) wish I was enjoying the Vancouver Spring vibes right now! I love both your shampoo and body wash.
